The chance of a lifetime and the touch of a rock god are offered to music journalist Bryan Gallagher on the same day. Embracing one is easy, but resisting the other is harder than he’d anticipated—especially since Bryan has never been with a man.

It could be his dream assignment. Aubrey King, the legendary god of alternative rock music, has requested to meet with journalist and writer Bryan about penning the star’s memoir. Aubrey and his dark, angsty songs are the reason Bryan was inspired to become a leading rock journalist. His obsession for his career has alienated the women in his life, but Bryan doesn’t care. What really matters to him is the music.

Aubrey King has been out of the music scene for almost ten years—ever since his alternative rock band, Falling in Stereo, broke up. Questions about his sexual preferences have always surrounded him, and now that he’s ready to make a solo comeback, he wants to tell his story, his way. He’s followed journalist Bryan Gallagher’s career for a while and believes that Bryan’s obvious passion for music mirrors his own. He loves his writing style, but is also enraptured by the boyishly handsome writer.

Brian finds pushing his fanboy nervousness aside is difficult when Aubrey finally stands before him. He’s amazed at how little Aubrey has changed—his intense gaze, his unique style and his still youthful looks epitomise the star he’s always been. But Aubrey’s vulnerability when he sings and shares the deeply personal lyrics of a new song triggers something in Bryan that he never knew was there. The need to give himself to Aubrey, to let the rock god do to him what he’s never before desired a man to do.

Interview with Bryan Gallagher - leading rock journalist.

1. What inspired you to become a rock writer?

BG: My love of music, of course. But I think ultimately it was my desire to really get to know and understand what went on behind the scenes, what drove the artists to inspire such passion with their songs and performances.

2. Then who would you say your main inspiration was?

BG: The band Falling in Stereo opened up my whole world in ways I’d never experienced before. Aubrey King is the consummate artist. No one has ever been able to touch him in terms of his charisma, ability as a performer, his intensely personal songs, and of course, that amazing voice.

3. I see. Obviously, the man has had a big effect on you.

BG: The band has. I, uh, Falling in Stereo is what I meant. Obviously, Aubrey’s part of the band, but I…well, you get what I mean.

4. Sure. So, speaking of Aubrey, there’ve been some rumors that he’s looking for someone to help him with his memoirs. I imagine that would be a dream assignment for you. Have you heard anything about that?

BG: Actually, no. Damn. Really? Wow, of course it would be a great honor to be a part of something like that. I mean, whoever works with him would get to spend hours upon hours, probably traveling on tour with him and seeing and learning things that very few people would ever have the privilege of knowing. But, those are just rumors, right? And anyway, any sort of negotiations would happen between our representatives. I have no control over that.

5. But it would certainly be amazing for you, and for the rock music world if the two of you were to collaborate. So, what about the man behind the words? Tell us something about your personal life. Bryan?

BG: Huh? Oh, sorry, drifted off there for a moment. You were saying?

6. Your personal life, what can you tell us?

BG: Well, there’s not much to tell really. Most women don’t have the level of obsession with music that I have. I understand how it can be daunting to try and compete with that. But I’m fine. I mean, sure, it can be lonely at times. But really, I’m perfectly happy the way things are.

7. There’s no doubt that you are one busy guy, so at least you have that to keep you satisfied. So, what’s next for Bryan Gallagher?

BG: I’m not sure. I have several assignments lined up, and of course the blog keeps me very involved, but I really do like working on book projects. It might be time to speak to my agent about that.
